Resistant to Antibiotics

Hello,

I am a male in my mid twenties and have been pretty healthy my whole life. I was infected with chlamydia and have tried 4 different kinds of antibiotics, gone to the clinic many times, and have started seeing a urologist. Nothing is working, the pain persists, and I keep testing positive for Chlamydia. Since I began treatment, I have not had any kind of relations with either of the 2 girls I had seen in the preceding months to my infection. I had protected sex once with a new partner after the first round of treatment (hoping that I was cured). I stopped having sex of any kind before my last round of antibiotics, so I am definitely not being reinfected. I was wondering if anyone could help me, this is costing me a fortune and making me miserable.

I have taken Azithromycin, Doxycycline, Metronidazole, and Levaquin in that order.

Here is a brief time line of my experience:
June 2nd: noticed blood discharge after going for a run from the penis, there was no visible lesion but the hole looked inflamed. When the blood was cleaned up I later noticed a white discharge. There was some spotting of blood the next day, but it has never appeared since. The penis was very sensitive and it was burning during urination. I went to the STD clinic immediately and they treated me with one pill of Azithromycin. (I later heard it is normally 2 so I am not sure if I received a full dosage of this). I tested positive for Chlamydia and negative for Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and HIV. All discharge stopped within 2 days of taking antibiotics and has never reappeared. Pain briefly subsided but came back. At this point it was only in the penis and testicles.

2 or 3 weeks later I went back to the STD clinic because the pain in the groin area persisted. I tested positive again. They gave me one week of Doxycycline and one 4 pill dose of Metronidazole. Toward the very end of treatment I thought I was feeling better but the pain and occasional burning during urination came back

Early-Mid July I started feeling pretty bad. After a weekend when I had drank a good amount, I seemed to come down with a fever and pains were shooting throughout my body. I felt terrible and considered going to the emergency room because I had never felt like this before. Instead I booked an appointment that week with a urologist. After a few days the fever feelings subsided but groin pains persist. I tested positive again. The urologist checked my prostate and said it was definitely inflamed. He gave me 3 weeks of Levoquin.

3 weeks are up and symptoms persist. I went to the STD clinic again and tested positive. They say they are out of options for me and gave me 3 more weeks of doxycycline on the off chance it is LGV (which everyone seems to doubt). The test for LGV will return in 2 weeks. Sometimes I still break down and feel like I have a fever and get chills and strange feelings throughout my body. In the mornings I usually feel okay and get worse as the day goes on. Some days I feel pretty much fine. I am definitely sick and don't know who to turn to. The urologist wants to send me to an infectious disease specialist to put cameras inside my body and see if there is some kind of internal wound or something. I have terrible health insurance so that is adding to my stress and probably compounding my sickness. I am also freelance so I cannot afford to miss work. I have some savings so if I have to, I will do what it takes.

Any ideas?

Tough situation that I am not sure where to go from here. Your uriologist might be on the right track sending you to a ID. My only advice would be to pay to post in the expert community. Dr.Hook and Dr.HHH will be able to give you some great advice on the issus.
