Still have symptoms 3 weeks after treatment

Hi,

I was given a positive Chlamydia test back in November, had treatment, but symptoms returned.  Tried the clamelle test and got a negative result.  Went to the clinic 3 weeks ago and got azithromycin (partner was on 2 week course of amoxycillin).  Symptoms seemed to disappear again.  However the test I recieved 3 weeks ago came back negative again for chlamydia or Ghonnorea.  I feel as if I still have some symptoms of chlamydia though.  Slight swelling sensation in my testicles.  No burning or discharge.  Could I have had something else other than chlamydia all this time ?  I've had 1 positive and 2 negatives.

Have you had any other testing done?  Gonorrhea?  NGU?  A prostate exam?

It sounds like you need some more tests done to figure this out.

The tests I got was for chlamydia and ghonnorea - negative for ghonnorea twice, positive for chlamydia once, then negative twice.

Actual timeline below.

November.  Urine test.  Positive for Chlam, negative for Ghonn.  Treated with Azithromycin.

March - Tested using Clamelle.  Came back negative.

April.  Urine test.  Negative for both Chlam and Ghonn.  treated with azithromycin anyway.  Partner treated with amoxicillin.

Only symptoms I still have are slight discomfort in my testicles.

Well, I think you need to have an exam and follow up with your doctor about this.  It doesn't sound like its being caused by an std.

Do you think even if I had NGU that the meds described above would have cured myself and partner ?

Yes, but you need to stop doing the what if game and go see your doctor.  I'm not sure what the hesitation is, but you need to go.
