Symptoms Epididymitis from Chlamydia

Hi,
As is common, I have had no symptoms whatsoever of Chlamydia, or else they were so mild I did not notice.
Last week I began to develop what appear to be the symptoms of Epididymitis (spelt something like that) including heavy and slightly tender testicles, lower abdominal pain, lower back pain, leg pain, slight swelling of testicles. I also developed pain at the joints of my arms but in front and my shoulders (a kind of stiffness in both cases), this isnt common. Basically I am going for the Chlamydia test on Tuesday but I'm kinda curious about a few things.
I have only had 1 sexual partner in the past 8 months and have had no other symptoms as I said. Does Epididymitis from Chlam usually take this long to develop? Could there be another cause? oh and I know this isnt the place but how in God's name is my girlfriend going to react to this ......

There isn't a specific time line.  But 8 months is possible to start developing epididymitis.  It could also be prostatitis.  The symptoms are similar.  If I am correct, it is not std related. Either way, if you both end up being diagnosed with chlamydia, it wouldn't be known who gave it to whom, so just tell her what is up.  If anything, have her go to the doctor with you so she can ask all of the questions she needs to.

Thanks 2 terrified, your a bit of a legend round here! I think its likely epididymitis by way of sexual transmission, and I'm positive that its only gone in one direction between me and her. Anyway thats my issue to deal with but thanks for the advice. Fingers crossed for Prostatitis :)
