UTI or STD????

UTI or STD????

I have refrained from sexual activity for the past 7 months, and I never encountered any kinds of infections or diseases before. I did, however, just recently have sexual intercourse, and a few days later I felt a slight itchiness right around my urethra, which I assumed was a yeast infection. Then about 2 days ago I felt a mild burning sensation when I urinated, followed by the sensation that there was more left as I only urinated very small amounts. My urine was also a bit cloudy, and I also noticed a few trickles of blood on the toilet paper. I am not on my period, and I am positive that the blood was not vaginal discharge. I took an antibiotic and drank a lot of water and cranberry juice, and the bleeding has stopped, yet every once in a while I still get a bit of an itchy feeling, so I'm afraid that these might be signs of an STD, possibly Chlamydia.
Like I mentioned, this is the only sexual partner I've had in 7 months, and we did use protection. We did not use lubricant so it was a bit dry, which I read can be another factor on how the bacteria can be massaged into the urethra, which I understand is why it is common for women to get a UTI after having sex.
So basically my question comes down to if this sounds like an average case of a UTI caused by sex... or Chlamydia? I've never experience anything like this so I am a bit paranoid... ha.

It honestly could be either.  The chances of an STD like chlamydia would be lessened since you used a condom, and you can get a UTI from new or increased sexual activity, but I'd still want to get checked.

What antibiotic did you take?  My guess is that it probably slowed things down, but didn't cure anything, as both chlamydia and UTIs need specific antibiotics to cure them, and if you didn't take those specific ones, you didn't cure anything.

Also, cranberry juice and water can help alleviate symptoms of a UTI, but won't cure it.

I would make an appt with your doc and find out what's going on.  You'll start to feel better a lot sooner then just trying to guess.  If you don't have insurance, you can go to Planned Parenthood.
