Unprotected sex with infected partner but results came back negative

Hi there,

I am a 19 year old female and I had unprotected sex with someone infected with Chlamydia. In one night we had unprotected sex on two separate occasions and the next day he found out from his previous partner (that he had intercourse with only once 2 weeks prior) that she has chlamydia. I went in to get tested right away, however it was only 36 hours after I would have been in contact and the test results came back negative. I realized that may have been too early for the test to be done to get accurate results so I went back 2 weeks later and got a chlamydia test again. Meanwhile my partner that informed me that his previous partner had chlamydia was tested and his results did come back positive. I just got my second test results back and they are negative. Is it possible to have unprotected sex twice with someone infected with chlamydia and it was not passed on to me?? What is the likelihood of that happening?

Thank you very much for your response and expertise.

Can't tell you the likelyhood but it is certainly possible. Unprotected sex does not guarantee the passage of a STD but it certainly does put you at risk.

My advise is to see your Dr and tell him/her what happened and they will probably treat you with medication anyway (standard to do so with a partner who tests positive) and use condoms in the future.
