Utheritis...

by CJ412, Mar 27, 2009 12:55PM
Hi Doc, after a succesful chlamydia treatment, i'm suffering, for at least a month now, from an utheritis. I don't have any pain when unrinating, no burning sensation. The end of my urine tube at the top of my penis is a bit swolen and red. When i go to sleep i wake up sometimes in the middle of the night, sometimes in the early morning from a burning pain. When i then squeeze in my penis, a little, glassy coloured, discharge is coming out. I got treated with zithromax for the chlamydia, and they gave me flagyl and amoxycyline for the other thing... They did a recheck on me for any std's but nothing was found, they also took a urine sample and did a research on it in the lab, nothing found.

Which other antibiotics are there to help me with this annoying thing that's get me crazy? Doxyxycline?...
And, does it happen, that an utheritis get's cured by itself without any antibiotic?
Could it be that the utheritis is caused by the ab they gave me for the chlamydia?
I'm so worried that i'll have a none cureable utheritis, is that possible?

Have you been back to the doctor since you posted last?  We can't offer any more help than advising you to follow up.

Make sure they do a urine culture and a prostate exam.

Well, you need to have a prostate exam done.

I just came back from the hospital, they did a check on my blood and a check on my urine. Everything was normal, nothing strange, no inflammation cells found. So, any infection is ruled out now... They told me, that after a treatment with ab for chlamydia and utheritis, after the treatment pain can still be there for a little while... But no further reason to worry about any disease or bacterial infection. During the day i don't feel any pain, it's only at night that i wake up with some pain. You still recommend a prostat exam?

You wouldn't have pain for a month after.  I can see a week, maybe even 2 tops, but not a month.

Are you drinking enough water?  Too much alcohol or caffeine?  Those can be irritating to your bladder, therefore irritating your urethra.

I drink 2.5 liters of water a day... Once in a while coffee or alcohol. If i would have something with my prostat things would have shown up in the urine and blood sample right? Can I rule out the option of having a inflammation of anything if everything in my blood and urine looks perfectly normal?

Probably, but not always.  I think at this point, you need to do it to at least rule it out.  It would be likely for you to have some white blood cells in your urine, but that's not a 100% rule, if that makes sense.
