Zithromax

by rennea, Nov 04, 2009 11:25PM
I was diagnosed with chlamydia in sept and me and my partner were both treated with a one time dose of zithromax. When I went back for a follow up I tested positive again. I wanted to know is it possible the zithromax was not effective? I am allergic to baixin and  my nurse was aware and told me I probably shouldn't take zithromaz but to go ahead and take it and if I had any problems just go to the hospital. Within 30-40 minutes I had SEVERE abdominal pain, diarrhea and hot/cold flashes that lasted about 12 hours. I never went to the hospital because I was in such pain I couldn't talk or move. I figured this was from the zithromax. My partner had none of this just an upset stomach for 15-20 minutes. Since I had diarrhea for so long did the medicine even stay in my system long enough to work? If you are having an allergic reatin to the medicine will it affect the effectiveness of it? Could this be a reason why I still have chlamydia?

It is possible.  But if you have continued to have unprotected sex with your boyfriend, he has most likely been reinfected.  He should test again as well.
