I've seen Azithromycin 1 g orally for 1 day listed as a treatment for Chlamydia.  How long after treatment is it safe to have sex again without risk of infecting a partner?

After 7 days.  If you have the same partner you had before, your partner needs to be treated before having sex.

If you aren't sure you've got chlamydia, you need to be tested.

Hi AJ,
I tested positive for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea recently, about a week after the infection occurred, so it wasn't very advanced.  The doc prescribed a single 2 gram dose of Azithromycin to cover both.  I've looked up the efficacy of the drug, and it is generally pretty good.  Is that your experience with Azithromycin for BOTH of these also?  Would you say there is anything to worry about?

You actually had both gonorrhea and chlamydia?  I'd double check those results.  If you had gonorrhea, you should get a shot of ceftriaxone to cure that.  The azith 2 gm MIGHT cure it, but its not the preferred treatment.
