I feel as though my systoms are resurfacing again. I have another appointment with another doc. after the last one prescribed cipro which didn't work. Is it possible to have a strong bacterial infection in my prostate and to request a chlamydia test through urine. Can a bacterial grow in the testing and since they are testing for chlamydia think that the prostate bacteria is chlamydia. How do they tell the difference in bacteria's if they are testing for chlamydia and a basteria grows do they assume it's chlamydia.

If you have chlamydia, it would be in your urethra probably if its in your prostate.  You can request a specific chlamydia urine test and you should ask him about the prostate.

You should also ask him to do a prostate exam.

If he thinks it is in your prostate, levofloxin would probably be a good choice for you for meds.  If its in your prostate, you may have take this for a few weeks.

How is your wife doing?  Has she been having symptoms again?  She should go back for a follow up test a month after she has taken her last cipro.

Thanks for asking, my wife is doing better, as for as cleared up will find out at the retesting. As for me somedays I have an irratation where it feels like a discharge wants to come out and other days where no problems at all. Also how can they tell the difference between a bacterial infection and chamlydia?

Chlamydia bacteria looks different than other bacteria, and they do specific tests to see if its chlamydia.
