I'd ask for another test. If your new man is telling the truth, he wouldn't have gone this long with no symptoms.
If you've already taken the meds, a test won't work now, but you and your partner would need to decide whether or not your new partner should be treated just in case, or if you all go with yours being a false positive. He needs to test before making any of these decisions. If his test is positive, yours is not a false positive.

He also wouldn't go 4 years without symptoms - the longest I've seen in women is a year and a half, and I've heard as along as 2 years. Men usually get symptoms sooner.
If he's positive, he had to have gotten it much more recently.
But don't get too ahead of yourself - he needs to test first.

I'm sorry its so confusing for you.

If your new man decides not to treat or his doc won't treat him, then wait 6 or 8 weeks, and test again to make sure you don't have it again from him. If you don't, chances are it was a false positive.
