chlamydia and back pain

Hi -

I had unprotected sex with a new partner, went to get an STD test and tested positive for chlamydia. My first symptom was itching and unrelenting back pain. I have since taken 2 separate doses of azithromycin, and then given a shot of rocephin and have been on doxycycline for almost 7 days and my back pain is still unrelenting. Is this normal? They are treating me as if I have mild PID although transvaginal ultrasound was normal. I am in so much pain and I'm wondering is it possible for chlamydia to not go away with antibiotic treatment?

The immune system may have damaged the nerves during the attack?  That's my theory of what happens with Chlamydia and PID or pelvic inflammatory disease in women.  Somehow the nerves become inflamed, a result of Chlamydia infection.

I am male and i caught Chlamydia almost 5 months ago, I had a burning in my lower back as well... it was still there after my treatment as well, but it did go away.

The best thing you can do is wait 3 weeks since the start of antibiotics, and test for Chlamydia again to make sure the infection is completely cleared up.  Since you didn't have Chlamydia very long, the inflammation may go away.
