I recently went to the doctor for a regular 6 month check up. I went in may and did not test positive for any infections. however last year around this time i had bacterial infection which was cleared. However, i tested positive for chlamydia last month and took the med zithromax. I have only had one partner my whole life, my b/f of 4 years. feeling betrayed i asked him if he had cheated and he explained he hasn't to prove it he went to get tested. he tested negative for all STDs and showed me the results. i know he wasn't infected before and took other medicines to aleviate as some web sites would suggest, i know this because he does NOT often go to the doctor and has not taken any antibiotics and he hates medicines. i do not understand how i could have caught it considering i did not go outside of the relationship and he has been my only partner in my entire life. please help me. my b/f wants to leave me now b/c he thinks i've cheated. i am going to my doctor for a follow up at the end of the month but i dont understand how this happened?
I took the one time dose of zithromax. the infection i had last year was BV. could it be BV again? does the zithromax cure BV would my chlamydia test be affected by this? If i was tested again would i know if it was a false positive? I am calling my doctors office tomorrow to get the details on the testing that was performed. and to see i can go back and get retested this week. i will post back the type of test that was run and the details of the meds i was on last year.
I went to another doctor for a second test. I only took the medicine about 9 days ago if i did truly test positive before then i should still be positive today (even if i took the meds)? is that correct? I took a different test today (originally it was a culture this time a urine
My doctor was unavailable today so i couldn't find out the type of test that was run. i will follow up tomorrow to see if i can find out and post the response then.
Please check back tomorrow for an update i really appreciate your responses! Thank you!
Okay, so I read this, and now im just curious with my situation.
My doctor gave me the pills last friday, and told me to go the following friday [ so this friday i should be getting tested again] sayingthat the pills should have taken effect by now...
If 1confusedny1 is 9 days later, and possibly testing positive..is my doctor giving me false hope?
Well, the pills will cure you within 7 days. However, dead dna from the chlamydia bacteria might still be lingering, so you might still test positive. You wouldn't be infectious
Hello again,
i have received the results of my second test taken 9 days after zithromax and it shows completely negative. no trace of antibodies etc. does that mean that my original test was in fact a false positive considering all of the aforementioned factors?
I apologize for being a hound i just have to understand?
I just want to let all you ladies out there know that it is very possible to be misdiagnosed for chlamydia. I went to the health dept. for my regular annual pap
smear until this year. I was told that I had chlamydia. I was in disbelief but went ahead and took the 4 pills they encouraged me to take. To make a long story short, my husband tested and his came up negative for chlamydia - a clear indication that I was misdiagnosed. The readers digest says that chlamydia is one of the top 5 things that are misdiagnosed - along with breast cancer. What I have learned is, don't accuse your husband who has been totally faithful to you. I am thankful that we have a trusting relationship.
I to was misdiagnosed, way back in 1994 had been with the same guy since 1988 got married never ever cheated had two children, but had a serious problem with uti
's had them since I was a young girl. So after my second child went for my check up and was told I had chalmidyia here's the kicker she told me I had it with out getting the results back first being I was young at 22 I figured what your doctor says is gold, knowing I had never ever cheat in my life I had to ask my husband which didn't end up so good he thought I was lying I thought he was lying. Even though deep down inside I knew he'd never cheat but the diagnosis from the doctor said other wise. Here's the thing I went only for a check up nothing was wrong and I just had a baby a few short months ago which my obgyn would've found it. So how can I say this without being too disgusting ok you know how they find a discharge
yes gross I hate that word too, anyway here's the only way to say it nice, this doctor was so freaking stupid because the cause to the discharge was that I was (& still am) a very happy and sexually active married woman with the same guy since 1988. So just wanted to tell my misdiagnoses story I almost forgot since I was a really not an out spoken person my sister-in-law call up the doctors office and let them have it! I love her for that family's gotta stick together!!
