chlamydia treatment fail

I have been dating a guy for 2 months we found out after about a month of dating that he had chlamydia. I got tested and had it as well. He has been tested twice in the last month and treated twice. He is still has symptoms even after finishing his treatment. I can tell you 100% we have done NOTHING for reinfection to occur. I won't even let him look at my pants. But now he is going in again for testing and possibly treatment. How common is it for treatment to fail twice? I have also been treated twice as a precaution. But how long can this go on?? Could it be something else. We see each other basically every day. I know he is sleeping around and neither am I. What else can it be? I'm getting rather concerned. I care about him a lot and worry about both of our health from this.

He's probably testing too soon if I am figuring the time frame right.

The tests for chlamydia are super sensitive, and can pick up on dead chlamydia dna, so while he's cured, the tests might show positive for about 3 weeks after taking the treatment.

Its suggested that people wait at least a month to retest.

If I'm off base on the testing timeline, let me know.

See I was thinking that too. But shouldn't his doctor realize it's to soon and why after a week of treatment does he still have symptoms?

If he is still having symptoms, he needs to maybe see a urologist.  What kind of symptoms is he still having?

And I wish doctors were better with STDs, but I realize that they are working with sooo many different things that they just can't know everything.  It'd be nice if they did a little reading on it though.
