chlamydia won't go away

I was diagnosed about 2 months ago. Have taken 2  1 gram treatments of  Azithromycin and 2 7 day courses of doxycycline. The infection will not go away completly. I have not had any sex so reinfection is impossible. I am now on rythromycin, but i read this is less effective than the other 2. What can I do????

Are you testing before all this treatment?  It could be that the infection is gone but your symptoms have not completely gone yet.  You should wait a month after you finish the new medication and test regardless of if you still have symptoms or not then test for cure.  I think you are on overkill now.  I can say that because I did it and it turned out to be something different.

yes I was tested in after the 1st round of treatment. Still positive. Just got retested again after the second round and am waiting for the results. But after the second round still had symptoms. THe Dr. started the new treatment erythomycin b/c i still displayed symtoms (symptoms). Is it possible to still have the infection after all this treatment? Is there a drug resistant strain I have not read about?

How soon ater your treatment were you tested if before a month this could have been a false positive (as 2T indicated). I would wait to see what your test result are for your recent test and if you are continuing to have symptoms you should consider testing for Trich; Trich has simular symptoms to chlamydia and is not really tested for unless asked.

you def. have been over treated for chlamydia.

Yes, you should not be testing for at least 30 days after treatment.

Well I believe I was tested about 3 weeks after the second treatment. I am now into the 3rd day of the erythromycin and I can't tell if the symptoms have completely gone away. I think it may be in my head now. I should get the results of the latest test today. If it does come out negative and I still "feel" symptoms I will definately ask about the Trich testing. BTW is it possible to have had Trich and Chlamydia at the same time? In other words could it be possible to have cured the Chl with all the antibiotics and not cured the trich? Is there different antibiotics needed for Trich?

Yes that is very much possible... like 2T said she thought she still had chlamydia but it ended up being something else... this also happened to me and it was not chlamydia.

the meds that treated your chlamydia doesn't cure Trich. But I wouldn't jump the gun because like you indicated this could be in your head now, stress, anxiety ect can really play tricks on you.

If your results are neg. i would finish your meds keep STDs out of your mind and move on and then if you are truely still experiencing symptoms you need to work with your doctor to see if you have something going on.

Just got the call from the Dr and the Chlamydia came back negative. What a relief. Now I will take your advice kdaily and forget about this entire mess for a while and wit and see. In terms of trich, would the symtoms (symptoms) be definite. I mean is it like chlamydia and I could have very mild or no symptoms at all. I was reading and it seems i would definitely know there is an issue and not "kind of think, maybe" you know what I mean?

Honestly, men rarely get any symptoms when it comes to trich.  IF that is what the problem is for you now, then it is possible you are showing symptoms because of the wrong antibiotics killing every other bacteria in your body but the trich.  I would give getting treatments a rest for about 30 days and if you still are not seeing any relief at all, then get a referral for a urologist.  But if you do feel better by then, then it is all in your head.
