chlamydia

by HEADER, Jul 01, 2009 03:06PM
Hi my stomoch has been swelling out more and more and ive been bleeeding during sex for about 4 months now.. i was diagnosed with chlamydia 2 weeks ago and went and got treatment last week. i went to see the dr today since my stomoch swelling is so bad, and she said the pills i got for treating the chlamydia will clear up my swollen stomoch, well i  have been reading about chlamydia and i read about how it can turn in PID..so i brought up that concern to her and she said my ultrasound results looks fine and since i wasnt having any pain i shouldnt worry about it even thoug i look like im pregnant(which im not). she didnt even look at me she just went off of the ultrasound results..so i guess my questions are..can PID be detected just by an ultrasound? will the treatment for chlamydia eventually take away the stomoch swelling ?..and should i seek a second opinion?

Yes, your doctor can tell if you have signs of PID with an ultrasound.  And it would be associated with pain during a pelvic exam. If the swelling doesn't go away, you probably have something else going on not std related.  If you are not satisfied with the answers you got from your current doctor, then by all means, get a second opinion.  It is your right.
