my husband and i have been together for three years and we both have been faithful to each other  , he said he never had sex with anyone besides me in those three years ..recently my husband started having penile discharge ,we got tested and it was chlamydia ,we both have been on doxycycline ,tetradox and zitromax ,three seperate courses his discharge cleared up but returned two days ago, was the treatment a failure?can this infection be transmitted otherwise?

Sex is the only way that its transmitted.

Have you ever been tested in the past?  Has he?  If you have past negative results, then you know that this infection is new.  

I have to say that while its possible this could have been from before you were married, I'd really doubt it.  I could see one of you not having symptoms for this long, but not both of you.

Have you all been sexually active during the treatment?  That could explain why he is continuing to get this, unless he's having sex with someone else who hasn't been treated.  Also, if you've been having sex, you need to be re-treated as well.
