follow up testing for chlamydia?

follow up testing for chlamydia?

recently i went to my OBGYN and had blood work done- routine stuff they do in the beginning of pregnancy- and i came back positive for chlamydia
well thankfully i know who i got it from and i called him and "thanked" him for lying to me about having already been tested and also for putting my self and my child at risk >.<
im quite sure they found the chlamydia in my blood rather than my urine as they said my urine sample wasnt enough to even bother with (i just didnt need to go when they gave me the cup.)
i havent started my antibiotics yet i was asked to pick them up today but apparently when the nurse said she was going to call in my prescription she had better things to do and i now have to wait until monday
my question is (an i dont know what theyre giving me) how long does the treatment take and do i have to have blood taken again to see if its gone or do i get to pee in a cup this time? (im really scared of needles..)

The thing is, blood testing is not accurate at all.  It comes up positive if there is any DNA from chlamydia past or present.  It is not reliable for current infections.  You need to go back for a urine or swab culture before taking unnecessary medication.

Actually, the preferred medication is a one time dose of zithromax or 10-14 days of doxycycline.  Most of the time zithromax is used.  It is the most recommended treatment by the cdc.
