how long can it stay dormant?

i have been with my partner now for 9 years. i have just been diagnosied with chlamydia how long can this lay dormant? could i of caught this from him or my previous husband that i left 9 1/2 years ago?

Chlamydia does not lay dormant, if you have not been with any one elsle in the last 9 years then your Partner has been, you would not have carried this longer then a year with our some sort of symptoms and no longer with out severe symptoms.

.... Sorry i forgot to mention, you could have had a false positive with does happen your partner needs to get tested and if you haven't taken the meds yet I would get another test to ensure you are indeed infected.
