It can happen that they -Statins - affect the kidneys, at least they did in my case, but at that time I had taken Vytorin for at least a year already and before that pretty much all that what was on the market for another 12 years.

No it wasn't the enzymes. It was severe headaches, pale stool and foamy urine  for 3 days. Warnings says to stop and consult dr. which I did.
She said ok stop them. Alll went back to normal 2 days after stopping. So it pointed directly to the statin.

That is very, very fast to have liver symptoms caused by a statin, and pretty rare.  Were they diagnosed by lab tests?  Generally it takes 90 days for liver problems to show up when they happen.

I have thyroid hashi's antibodies which rose greatly but no change in diet or exercise.  I don't exercise, never have and it all stayed stable until now. HDL did raise ever so slightly. No diabetes.
Did try Crestor after these results, had liver symptoms within a week so stopped.

Very possible, and with many variables causing the increase.  Maybe your hdl or 'good' cholesterol increased, but a more common reason can be from a lack of exercise, not taking a statin, diabetes issues, an increase in carbs or fat in the diet, and much more.  Cholesterol control is a holistic matter of diet, drugs and exercise in my opinion.
