Does this sound right?

I went for my check up thursday aftertoon. No fasting. I had breakfast and i ate lunch around 3.5 hours before they drew blood.

Male, 29, 250 pounds, 5-11

My report read LDL 226, HDL 32, Tri 290.

Now here is what gets me, i told my doctor that about 3.5 hours prior to my apt i had a decent sized lunch, he said ok and i thought he took that into account

Chicken salad from wendys and a chocolate frosty.

990 total Calories - 340 from fat
38 Grams of fat
15 Saturated
1 Trans
160 Cholesterol
97 Sugars


Now i am wondering had i not eaten and fasted, would those numbers be lower? Did my dr mess up by taking my blood without a fast?

Your numbers are really meaningless if you did not do a 12 hour fast. Having said that, your LDL would most likely still be high after a fast as there is not usually a very large swing in the numbers that far after eating. I would request a second test after a 12 hour fast.

I should also point out that your HDL or good cholesterol was very low, that would not have been affected by the lack of a fast.

Ok, so my numbers i had posted here were WAY off.  I got them mixed up

LDL - 137
HDL - 32
TRI - 297
Total - 225

whew a load off my shoulders.. But i am still sticking to my diet.
