Any advice please? Thank you

Hi I would really appreciate some support and ideas, I was unwell back in April kept losing my balance, collapsed at work and had to go to a+e where I had left sided numbness and no reflex in left foot, I also had bad headache, I had urgent MRI of the brain as they were concerned about ms, this was clear, I was referred to a neurologist where I was subject to rudeness, aggression and total humiliation where he said I needed to see a psychiatrist! That its psychological! I am a nurse myself and am very aware of the symptoms of depression and I am a very positive active person and was so shocked and upset with his treatment of me, he pointed in my face and said that he diagnosed me the second I got up out of the chair and needed support to walk from my partner! So he was prejudiced from the start and didnt do a fair assessment, I have still not had an EMG as I continue to have left sided weakness, numbness, prickling pins and needles, more recently my right eye has been commented on that its a different shape, I have a headache on the back left side of my head and regularly have balance problems, I was seen by a different consultant in August and diagnosed with M.E. but these neuro symptoms on one side are not classic M.E. my swallowing reflex is also not so good, I am 36 and have gone from running 10k's, dance lessons and being very active, I now have difficulty walking very short distances, please help and could theses symptoms be put down to stress/ psychological or am I not crazy like I've been made to feel? THANK YOU

I suspect an untreated inner-ear infection or an acoustic neuroma.

Hi Shells,
Good for you for not listening to the neurologist! Everytime I heard, "don't worry about it/it's nothing, etc" I'd think 'oh no, here we go again' because it would always build to something big! The doctors who listen may not have better answers but at least they look to science!  (nurses can fall into either category too I'm afraid). ME/CFS is so little understood as you know and science only has so many answers.

Shells, you are the best person to answer if there is some psychological component. If you think it's something else keep looking! In the mean time, do what you can to look after yourself and treat the symptoms as best you can.

Also, you are going through a lot and stress will only make things worse. Going to counselling, taking antidepressants, or following cognitive behavioural therapy does not make you crazy - it can help to keep stress from exacerbating what your body is going through.

Best of luck, I'll be thinking of you,
Jayne
