I wish I could've given you some advice when you first posted but I am new to this group. I have a 10 year old dog who has chronic renal failure. For years he did okay and his numbers remained low, but 12 weeks ago that all changed. He stopped eating for two days and when we took him in, his kidney values were very similar to your dogs. Hopefully the treatments that you did have been beneficial. Our dog has had three rounds of IV fluids and subcutaneous fluids every day. He has done very, very well. In fact, so well that my vet has told me he hasn't seen a dog do better in his 20 years of practice. So to answer your question, the IV fluids, anti-nausea medications, and subcutaneous fluids can make a difference. Up until a few days ago, our dog has been able to eat, drink, go for walks, and has been very comfortable and happy. Unfortunately, his kidneys stopped making erythropoetin (a hormone needed for the production of new red blood cells) so he is extremely anemic. Right now we are considering a blood transfusion just to keep him comfortable but we know that it will only help for several days.
