Hi. The blood results will be really useful, because it will give us an idea about the stage of kidney disease and the areas of diet and treatment that really need attention. Managing this illness is all about prioritising at the beginning and then dealing with things as they arise. The most important thing right now is obviously to get Jeanie eating. If baby food is the only thing she will eat, then that's ok for now (it also has useful water content, which is crucial).

Have a read of my article on CKF and diet (it will help with a few ideas on foods to try her with). You can read it here:

What tablets has your vet put Jeanie on? Do they include an anti-nausea medication? If not, then that's something you need right now. One of the reasons CKF dogs don't eat is because they constantly feel sick with all the toxins in their bodies ... a good anti-nausea medication will ease the sickly feeling and encourage her to eat more frequently.

Have you tried specific kidney/renal diets? There are some good manufactured (canned) foods you may want give a try. These are useful because they supply a little water (they are about 80% water content), but importantly they are low in protein and phosphorus. In addition to anything else you might get her to eat, try cooked human grade chicken (with the skin on). Also, try feeding smaller more frequent meals.

Hope some of this helps. Please let us know.

Tony

So sorry hear about your dog.  What were her blood test results BUN, Crea, phophorus)?  Tony is really good at medical advice but he'll need blood results.
