Is it Asthma??

Is it Asthma??

Our son, who is now 4 years old has been in and out of emerg about 25 times since he was 8mths.  At 8mth old he caught a cold and it became increasingly worse...I took him to the doctors and they said, "its a cold" and sent us home.  It got severe a week later so we took him back and they did xrays.  They told us he had bronchial pneumonia.  Since then, whenever he has caught a cold it turns into this horrible coughing spell that doesnt stop until we bring him to emerg and they fill him with the mask, steroids, antibotics etc...they say its asthma.  He doesn't wheeze, he isnt short of breath at all....but when he catches a cold - its this ridiculous coughing fit that holds the poor kid hostage.  he coughs till he throws up, and then he cant finish his sentences...its non stop.  They have done so many chest xrays...some say, its asthma, collapsed middle lobe lung, pneumonia, bronchial something or other....He is on puffers and singular.
Then, our daughter who is 9mths just came down with a cold and the doctor ordered an xray for her.  The technician said it could be possibly asthma or maybe a bit of pnemonia (pneumonia)...???!!(!*@(!  Are these people not suppose to be able to tell what is on an x ray?  Isnt that the point of an xray?
My question is, does this all sound like asthma?

So sorry that you and your son have had to endure, what you describe.  Yes, this could be asthma but what you describe is consistent with a number of other chronic lung diseases, including cystic fibrosis.  The best advice we can give is that you seek consultation with an academic pediatric pulmonologist, at a university hospital or children's hospital.  There is too much at stake here to not do everything you can to find out what is the basic problem with your son, and maybe your daughter.

As for your question, the x-ray technicians are not trained to interpret x-ray findings.  That should be done by a radiologist.

It is not likely TB. I am not a doctor but to boost their immune system you could give them transfer factor advanced plus capsules. It should greatly help them fighting off whatever it is.

Do you have pets? Also it is good idea to eliminate milk, wheat and eggs from their diet for few weeks and notice the difference. But they are KIDS so cosnulting a allergist is good at this point..
