Regarding ABG TEST Results

Hi there,
Today my dad had undergone  the ABG test and the reports  mark  non-compliance values at three places:

1. Carbondioxide level  (58.5) normal range is 20-28

2. Oxygen level  (73) normal range is 85-128

What are the risks involved in this?

I do not know what is meant by “non compliance values”, in this circumstance.  I don’t understand why the doctor who ordered the arterial blood gases (ABGs) has not discussed the significance of the abnormal values and made recommendations for immediate care.  You should speak with that doctor if you can reach him/her without delay.  If these values are correct, your father is suffering from respiratory failure and his life is at risk, especially if this is an acute, rather than a chronic condition.  This is very serious.  You should contact his doctor or, if another doctor was involved, that doctor, immediately and call 911, unless his doctor advises you to do otherwise.  When you call his doctor, state explicitly that this is an emergency.

Good luck.
