Mother 87 yrs old has COPD and severe bronchitis. She spends all day laying in bed, only gets up to walk 7 steps to the bath room and back. From morning to night, she coughs and spits up hugh volumes of mucus. This musus is normally pink to bright red. The pink color being almost the color of strawberry mashed. Other times, straight blood color. I know it is good to get this mucus up, but the color alarms me. Should we be prepared for a possible hemorage some day? She uses inhalers, but doesn't seem to use them correctly no matter how much we show her the proper way. At times when she coughs she is almost choking for a few seconds. It is very frustrating not being able to help her. She is not on oxegon.
