COPD possible?

Former smoker/drinker, problems started after drinking or smoking with shortness of breath, and chest pressure for days afterwards.  Time seemed to be the only cure, but now I no longer drink or smoke and continue to have these problems.  The time shortened in between these intervals where the pressure and shortness of breath was happening more frequently.  I feel I have messed up my lungs, but isn't COPD a pulmanory disease which is the heart?  Nothing seems to help but steroids and time, I do have allergies and sinusitius and mild asthma.  My spyrometere readings always return normal readings with healthy lungs, but now my condition is worse where I exhert myself I get short of breath and chest pressure for weeks without end.  I constantly use cough drops and feel like my throat is closing.  Have been tested for vocal cord dysfunction but treatment didn't relieve conditions.  I have some mucous with little coughing, even talking or playing with my baby makes me out of breath.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a lung disease that makes it diffucult to breathe. There are 2 main forms of COPD; (1) Chronic bronchitis, which causes long-term swelling and a large amount of mucus in the main airways in the lungs and (2) Emphysema, a lung disease that destroys the air sacs in the lungs. As a former smoker, it is possible that you have some form of COPD. It is important to seek the advice of a Pulmonologist to correctly diagnose any conditions that you may have. I would suggest being tested for Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency. This is a genetic disorder. Do you know if others in your family have a history of lung diseases/disorders?
