Cough Variant Asthma

I realize that some kids to cough a lot when sick.  Children who continue to cough repeatedly all night almost like a wooping cough may be suffering from something else entirely Especially when being  awaken or close to awakening.  It is called Cough Variant Asthma.  My daugter suffered from this as a baby and it was terrible.  What are cures to this problem?  I just want to go to sleep and my child not cough so hard she gets an eliptical hernia in her stomach from the repeated coughing.

I cough a lot and found that a small sip of liquid Benadryl stops it almost immediately. I think that the cough, in my case, is the result of an allergy that affects my throat. This may not be true with your children, but give liquid Benadryl a try. Give just enough to wet the throat. Pills are not as effective or immediate.
