Emphysema at 40

I'm a 40 yr. old female- just diagnosed with very mild emphysema. We found out only by my persistence. I asked my primary doctor for a chest xray because of my 22 yr smoking history. The xray showed 2 spots on the lungs. A CT scan was ordered which showed the emphysema. Subsequent basic spirometry showed FVC 94% of predicted, FEV1 at 85%, and FEV1/FVC at 90%. Doctor says the slight amount of emphysema does not justify the obstruction. He was surprised I noticed a change in my breathing at all. The numbers he is concerned with as well are FEF 25% is 106% of predicted, FEF 75% is 42%, and FEF 25-75% is 61%. He is certain there is something else causing my breathing obstruction. We will do complete spirometry next week but for now I am looking for some answers as to whether these values suggest bronchitis, asthma, or any other condition I may have in combination with the emphysema. Thanks in advance for your time.

yer best bet is to just wait until the doc gives you an explanation, as long as you quit smoking you should be ok
