Multiple issues at once

I have been coincidedly withdrawing from Tramadol and experiencing a COPD Flare.  My last dose of Tramadol was12/02/13  I started the Prednisone on a 30mg tapering dose regimen which is about out now.  My BP and P is still elevated, I am not carrying fluid in my ankles, but have gained about 10lbs in the past week.  I am also experiencing continuing lower back pain for which I was prescribed Methocarbamol.  I am still having some wheezing on exhalation and dyspnea on minimal exertion.  I feel wiped out.  I normally weigh 107lbs and am 5"3" tall.  I can't zip my pants, my belly is bloated.  Today on wiping my stool appeared a rusty brown.  I have been experiencing a cold feeling that is most peculiar in my belly.  No black or tarry stool.  I do take Senna for bowel control.  I now weigh 115lbs.  I am a female, 63y/o  With the start of withdrawals I began smoking 1 cigarette /day  Do I need to see a doctor?  I also have idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy, am a retired RN.

Thank you for answering my question.  I successfully withdrew from the Tramadol.  I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question.  I am a retired RN, and figured I was retaining fluid.  Also stopped the cigarette/day coping mechanism I was using...go figure!  Anyway, for any Doc out there, Tramadol is not the harmless drug some must think it is.  It builds tolerance like an Opiate, and withdraws like a Opiate.  I never allowed myself to take more than 100mg/day, yet still had to use a slow taper, and still experienced significant withdrawal. Suffice to say my PCP is no longer my PCP as she knew of my past history of alcoholism and current history of Depression.  One of my main motivating factors for getting off the Tramadol was the tolerance issue, and the commencing of antidepressant use.  Had to get off the Tramadol in order avoid Serotonin Syndrome.  Anyone out there needs to know of this potentially lethal interaction between Tramadol and SSRI type Antidepressants

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Yes, tramadol withdrawal can trigger upper respiratory symptoms along with abnormal sensations (cold feeling) and body pain. Also, it is not a good idea to smoke at this time. You need to consult a doctor to manage the withdrawal symptoms with medications. Also, you do appear to have water retention which needs to be looked at. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
