Pneumonia W/Rash

by taddalee, Jan 29, 2008 03:24PM
I was diagnosed with pneumonia in Dec. with a High White Blood count of 32,000. I also had a rash around by waist, under arms and upper legs. It never caused any discomfort or itch. The doctor said  it was caused by the infection. Can you explain this to me? Was there bleeding under the skin? Thank You

More than a few of the infectious organisms that infect the lung can spread, usually through the blood, to other body organs including, but not limited to the skin and meninges, causing meningitis.  If the rash developed after the start of antibiotic therapy, the rash could be due to the infection, itself, or allergy to the antibiotic.
