breathless

i have had severe breathlessness since I gave up smoking in january. I am ok when sitting or lying down but after a moderate meal or driving it starts up again.  I am about 6 stone overweight.  I have had chest xray ecg spirometer and bloods. I am to see a pulmonologist.  What can I expect?

It is unlikely that giving up smoking is the cause of your breathlessness. It is more likely that it coincided with a worsening of an existing lung condition. You may find you have asthma or emphysema.

Hi When you see you pulmonary Doc he will most likely give you a FEV1 it measures lung compacity. ALso a Flow Meter the sum total of those two will help your doc make a diagnosis for you, good luck when you go! I wish you peace within.
