hi
i had pneumonia about 9 mths ago, i was told i had copd, i have had about six xrays in those 9 mths,
the last one was about 3 weeks ago, the lung doctor said he wanted another xray to compair with the previouse one which was about three mnths ago, he has now sent me an appointment for a cat scan as he say's there is some shadow on bottom of right lung, he has ordered a thorax + abdoman scan, does this mean i have cancer i am worried about why the abdoman scan as well
                                                thank you

It could be cancer but more likely it is just a suspicious shadow.  On a plain chest x-ray, sometimes it is hard to tell if a shadow is in the chest or below the diaphragm, in the abdomen.  That is why the CT was ordered to include the abdomen, not because the doctor thinks you have cancer.  The shadow may just be a scar left from the pneumonia.

Good luck.
