copd and elevated atmospheres

I live in East Tennessee and am traveling by plane to Denver Colorado area in early August. I have been advised the elevation is as high as 9000 ft. Will my condition be worsened by this rise in elevation and will I be able to function in this atmosphere? Will the plane trip have any effect on my condition?

Im sorry, I could not be of more help. I know some people fly but have to take oxygen along. It just depends on each of us individual situation. You might want to post this to the doctor forum here. He may be of more help than I. Good luck

appreciate the info, problem is I dont currently have a doctor. no medicines either. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been on advair and xopenex for a nebulizer but since around Dec or so precsriptions ran out and no insurance so dont have a doctor or any medicine. I am making it okay but did need advice about this trip. not sure at this point what to do. I will be traveling with my 2 grandkids 5 and 6 and sure dont need any health scares with them present as their dad just died may 2008. oh what to do?

thanks for the advice about flying

It could. You need to check with your doctor and get advice about your particular situation. I was told not to fly.
