cough for 3 months

by Angie6, Apr 03, 2008 02:15PM
i have gone to the doctors for 3 months trying to figure outwhy this cough for so long. My father was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer in his lungs 2 years ago and my grandmother on mothers side died from lung cancer also. This really bothers me. I have been on 4 rounds of different antobiotics, nasal sprays, mucinex dm, xyzal, delsem, robitussin, prednezone and I also take protonix for gerd. Nothing seems to work I am 37 years old and for the most part have been healthy. I had a chest X-ray last May 07. showed nothing then. Should I be worried. And do I need to get another X-ray of my chest

Thanks Angie

You should be concerned about a cough that has not improved over 3 months.  You should definitely get another chest x-ray.  It sounds like you’re being treated without a diagnosis and that is unsatisfactory.

I have also had a cough for 4 months coupled with very few other symptoms.  I have had the same type of meds for this as you.  Did the cough get any better while on the antibiodics?
