freon exposure

I had a normal chest xray in 2008, six months later was exposed to freon in an enclosed skidder tractor, approximately 2 cans a day for about 3 weeks.  I became seriously ill but got better after the leak was fixed.  In a few months I began losing weight, had breathing problems, severe fatigue.  I have been diagnosed with COPD, Emphysema, and bronciectasis.  I can no longer hold out to work.  Can freon exposure cause this long term permanent lung damage?
