I don't think so...from what I've seen costochrondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage connecting the ribsRib cage pain (usually from the 4th ribRib cage pain down through the 6th ribRib cage pain) and generally on the left side. Pleurisy involves fluid in the lungs, I think.
I've been researching them both a lot since yesterday after spending the day at the ER for chest pain on my left side. They don't know what's wrong with me (after chest X ray and EKGAtrioventricular block, ekg tracing Ecg Exercise stress test). The doctor said it could be pleurisy, that he wasn't sure --and it could even be stomach related because your stomach is kinda up in that area... but he didn't suggest anything about costrochrondritis --I found that on my own. I'm not sure what's wrong with me, but this pain is awful. :(
