why do I COUGH UP SO MUCH MUCUS

Hi!
One possibility is a bad gastro-esophaeal reflux or acid reflux as it is commonly caused. Other possibilities are lung disorders like asthma, allergic bronchitis, emphysema, and lung infection. Chronic smoking, and postnasal drip can also make you cough up mucus. It is difficult to diagnose this on net.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
