Gallbladder surgery and abnormal liver findings

Hi everyone, my husband (35 years old) just had his gallbladder out a few days ago. While the surgery went great, afterwards when the doctor came to talk to us he said that my husbands bile ducts of the liver were extremely tiny and that he's never seen that before. He said it could just be his anatomy or it could be cirrhosis. He did say "it didn't look like it" but that it was "weird." Of course I am worried and we have to wait a week or so before work up begins.  Do any of you have any knowledge on small bile ducts and correlation to cirrhosis? Thanks in advance.

He should have been able to visualize your husbands liver did he say it looked cirrhotic?

We here are only patients so not experts so best to leave diagnosing to the experts our doctors.

My impression was that cirrhosis will cause enlargement (dilation) of bile duct size. Not knowledgeable about what could cause bile ducts to get smaller but I am thinking problems with the bile duct system could possible negatively affect the liver. Kind of a which came first kind of thing.

Best of luck to you both please come back with what your doctor has found out about possible cause or if it just normal for him
