Needing liver transplant but denied by Medicare 3 times

My brother is extremely ill and has been signed up for a liver transplant, he has no Medicare though and has been denied 3 times because he receives disability. Please is there anything to push forward and help him I don't want to lose him.

Agree with guys above...Medicare a Federal Program...same for every one...if your brother has disability through Medicare then he is a Medicare recipient.  The is definitely an issue the social worker advocate of the transplant team should be able to help you with....

I agree with Magnum.  You need to consult with an attorney who specializes
in helping patients get Social Security and Medicare. Does you brother have enough work hours to qualify for Social Security?  You may want to see if he qualifies for Medicaid in your state. As  Lynn, suggested the social worker on the liver transplant team may steer you in the right direction. Make sure your brother signs an affidavit that allows you to speak on his behalf and allows them to his share information with you.

Keep us posted.  Wishing you and your brother the best.  He is lucky to have you supporting him.

Something here seems odd. I don't know how old your brother is, but I started receiving Medicare when I was only 39, due to my illness cause by Childhood Rheumatoid Arthritis. At the same time I also received Medical here in California. I had no problem having Medicare pay for my transplant.

Have you thought about getting a disability lawyer? Loyola University for one here in California offers legal help for the handicapped and disabled. There are also attorneys that specialize in Social Security problems. Maybe a one time consultation could give you some good advice. Best of luck. Keep trying...

I would think the best resource would be his transplant center. I have read that as part of the transplant team they have social workers to help with those kinds of issues.

Have you raised your concerns with his team? They should be able to help. Did they give you a packed of information about the transplant process? There may be some helpful information about that in the packet.

Others here have been through the transplant process and I am sure you will receive more information from them.

Best of luck to you both
