Hello and welcome to MedHelp.

SGPT and SGOT are the most important enzymes of the liver parenchymal cells. They are in large numbers in the liver. These enzymes are released in the blood when the liver cells get damaged.

The normal range of (ALT) SGPT varies from clinic to clinic but your seems to be only slightly elevated.

Some of the causes of high SGPT are:

Liver inflammation (hepatitis A, B, C, Infectious mononeuceosis, acute viral fever, ALCOHOL, pancreatic disorder).
Injury to the muscles, as in accidents.
Myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure.
Acute kidney failure.
Certain drugs, like cocaine.
Drugs for reducing cholesterol etc.
Overweight and obesity
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finding the cause of the elevation is important and in some cases further testing may be needed. Your liver has the ability to repair itself once you eliminate the cause. The rest of your numbers look just fine so I wouldn't be overly concerned but be cautious.

I hope this helps, take care.

Randy
