Update

My husband started Sovaldi/riba combo 3 months ago for hep c with advanced cirrhosis geno 2. Last Wednesday was his last dosage! He cleared the virus at 2 months during tx...hooray! Last Thursday we went for his 3 month checkup and and ultra sound, still no virus detected and ultra sound looked good, no lesions or nodules detected, however there was one small blood clot located, she called it echogenic hepatomegaly. She said she doesn't think it's anything too serious as it's not caused and problems currently but to be on safe side she scheduled an appt next week for a MRI. Is anyone familiar with this? My other question is ever since he came off tx he has been very sleepy and little more depressed, is this a normal side effect?

Thank you everyone and God Bless :-)

His tiredness and depression could be from the Sovaldi/Riba withdrawal. I just finished 12 weeks of Sovaldi and Olysio and have been very tired out through it all and then in the last couple of weeks I started getting very depressed. For me, I feel strongly it is the meds. I've read in many places that it can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months to recuperate from the treatment. I also have cirrhosis but because the fatigue and depression were new with the tx, I blame the drugs rather than my cirrhosis. I do understand though that it could be either or both.

Hi

The medical term for enlarged liver is hepatomegaly

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/enlarged-liver/basics/definition/con-20024769

And echogenic is the ability of tissue to reflect ultra sound waves so echogenic hepatomegaly means a enlarged liver that can reflect sound waves I saw some references to fatty liver tissue being more echogenic.

Tiredness could be a symptom of his advanced cirrhosis and depression could be from the whole situation of being very ill.

My best suggestion is you may want to ask his doctor about those concerns it could be something they need to know about.

Good luck to you both
Lynn
