Has anyone had trouble with burning, irritated eyes? I know that they can be a liver trouble symptom.
A couple of questions;
(1) Any suggestions for relief?
(2) I know that a number of you have improved your liver health over time through dietary changes, abstinence and other wise choices. Has anyone seen their burning eyes subside as their general condition improved?
I also did some research on this and couldn't find substantial evidence of this being any symptom of liver disease. I did find a couple of sites talking about it but the creditability of the site I am uncertain.
Here is how one site explains it:
The better your liver is at detoxification, the fewer toxins you will have in your body. If your liver health is compromised, you will have a greater quantity of toxins running around your bloodstream, causing free radical damage and wear and tear to your organs and tissues. The delicate retina and macula in the eyes are particularly vulnerable to free radical damage, and this can have a devastating effect on vision. Free radicals can attack the retina and result in the breakdown of healthy tissue.
