I suggest you try the Hepatitis B Philippines group
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Hepatitis-B---Philippines/show/1517
Also we are not doctors here or medical professionals we are patients dealing with the effects of your conditions so no one here can diagnose you. For medical advice and diagnosis your best resource is your doctor
Best of luck to you
Your labs look good, but Platelets can tell a story. Also ultrasound isnt the best for checking the liver, A Fibroscan is a much better tool

Hi Hector
Thanks for a very thorough response you have been missed. Happy as well so see you checking in hoping you are feeling better.
Lynn
You have been given excellent advise. If you can elaborate more regarding your moms situation we can further help you.
No one can determine what your life expectancy will be. With cirrhosis especially, there are so many variables and anyone's condition can change with proper guidance and help. Having Cirrhosis is not a death sentence by
any means. Many of us on this forum are cirrhotic leading very healthy productive lives, including me.
Keep us posted on your mothers condition.
Best wishes
......Kim
So happy to see you back dear Hector.
'My mother was diagnosed with cirrhosis'.
'Local doctor said that if she doesn't get right treatment than she has one more year to live'.
'Although he suggested that very effective medication is available in USA .'
I am sorry to hear that your mother may have cirrhosis of the liver. Hopefully this is not the case as you learn more of the details.
I just wanted to add a few notes of clarification that may help you to understand the medical meaning of cirrhosis of the liver and its prognosis and any relation to the hepatitis C virus which in certain instances can cause cirrhosis of the liver typically only after many decades of chronic infection by the virus.
More medical information such as biopsy report, blood levels such as Bilirubin, Creatinine and INR (MELD Score) which indicate the liver's ability to perform its functions would be needed. Also any typical signs of advanced cirrhosis (which would indicate someone's liver is failing) such as Ascites (fluid accumulation in the abdomen or typically the lower legs or feet, bleeding Varices (vomiting or defecating blood) or Hepatic Encephalopathy (mental issues caused by the failure of the damaged liver to filter toxins from the blood which can cause stupor or coma) are typical signs in persons with advanced decompensated cirrhosis who typically have less than a year to live without the option of liver transplantation. Even with advanced irreversible cirrhosis a liver transplant can still allow a person to continue living if that option is available.
Hepatitis C is a viral infection that can cause liver cirrhosis but typically only after 20-40 years of chronic infection which would make hepatitis C infection gotten only a couple of years ago during surgery a very unlikely cause of her cirrhosis. Other typical causes of cirrhosis including years of alcohol abuse, chronic hepatitis B infection or various hereditary diseases.
So I you can see more medical information is needed to determine what is really happening and what steps may need to be taken to manage any liver disease your mother may have.
Hopefully your brother will be able to clarify these issues and your mother's health may not be as problematic as it may appear at first glance from the few details you have heard about.
Good luck to you and your mother.
Hector
Thank you Lynn for your attention to my concern. I'll ask my brother to send all available information to me and I'll post it. I was in shock first when I've heard. My mother was operated couple of years ago for other reasons and she was infected with hepatitis C i think. ...But first I'll gather information from Ukraine. Thanks again. ..
Igor
Hi so sorry to hear about your mother. Do you know the cause of her cirrhosis? Could it be hepatits C?
There are new just recently approved medicines available here in the U.S. and soon to be in many other countries for hepatitis C if that is part of your mothers medical situation.
Do you know about any symptoms of cirrhosis she is having? Is she under the care of a liver specialist at a transplant center? Is she eligible for a transplant?
There is not really a way to predict how long a person suffering from advanced cirrhosis will survive at least until they are extreamly sick and then it would be days to weeks.
Saying she has 1 year is somewhat unusual especially without knowing more about her symptoms and the cause of her illness. If for example it is hepatitis c I have lived knowing I have hep c for 24 years and I was diagnosed with cirrhosis 7 years ago. A person can live for many years with cirrhosis.
Try to get more information about her status and we can try to help.
