depressed wife

I've been pretty strong s far, But things are getting to me, My husband has esld,Took harvoni for 12 weeks, cleared the hep c,,, And ever since he's been Goin down hill slowly, His meld score is 17. At this point he has lost 15 lbs in 21 days, Eats very little once a day, vomits every second day, He goes to bed at 11 pm gets up at noon, then back to bed at 1pm till 5pm , and sits on the couch real quite.  He is a little yellow, Bowles are moving ok with the lactolose. Blood test a little high and a little low here and there, but nothing alarming, He is going for a ultra sound on his abdomen on the 21st, Tonight he said he thinks he's dying, He has never talked like that before, I have had him out of the house 3 times in a month, He just would rather sleep. We see his GI doctor every 3 months, Last time she said he's doing good, Well she's not here watching him, Just awful,  I had to tell someone cause I'm the only caregiver, no one else and I'm starting to loose it, But not in front of him, Thanks for listening

We had the doctor come to the house a couple of weeks ago, did a blood test, everything was ok hemoglobin was little high but nothing to be concerned about, I suggested a ultra sound on his abdomen,  Which is beeing done, on Monday the 21st, so I will call her Tuesday to see what's going on,  He's been in bed all day and night , did eat a bowl of soup , For sure there's something wrong, And I'm getting things done, I go in for catarac surgery  in May, So I need him to be ok, If not they will have to but him in St marys it's a place for seniors, Just for a week or less , Because I won't be able to lift him. Enough of us ,How are you doing,, we're waiting for summer lol, take care for now , will keep you updated thanks again linda

How he was doing or feeling 3 months ago is irrelevant.
Something has been wrong for awhile and is still wrong NOW. If your husband cured his hep C he should be feeling better, not worse. So something else is going on.

Loss of appetite and wanting to sleep all the time are red flags that something is going on. It could just be poorly controlled HE (something that can be easily managed) or an infection… but the bottom like is someone has to test him to diagnose the problem then it can be managed. Neither your husband nor you can do that which is why you continue to suffer. Only a liver doctor can manage liver disease and its complications.

You need to start taking action and be proactive and get him the medical help he needs. Otherwise you both will continue to suffer needlessly. Call his doctor and get an appointment to see them or a colleague ASAP.

While seeing a GI or hepatologist doc every 3 months sounds about right for most people with a MELD score of 17 who are stable, it is a poor quality of care when things are getting worse instead of better.

Call the doctor and get an appointment so they can figure out what is going on.
