Chest Pain associated with cough

I've been coughing for the past 3 weeks, but I just started taking medicine and it is slowly going away. But something that worries me is that I feel a small pain on the left side of my chest, every couple of days.. but it doesn't last long.. just come and goes. I think it's just because of the amount I've been coughing these past few weeks that it's like that.. but I was just wondering if it's anything serious.
