Colds and prednisone

My doctor recently prescribed prednisone to help treat a bad bout of bronchitis I've been fighting to reduce the inflammation in my lungs. I didn't mention that I was starting to get another cold on top of the bronchitis, a little bit of a stuffy nose and a sore throat. The nice thing is that the prednisone has helped alleviate those cold symptoms, but I've read that it can weaken your immune system. I'm only supposed to take the prednisone for 5 days total. Is this going to make me sicker/make the cold last longer when I get off the prednisone in a few days?
