Coughing that progresses to choking

Coughing that progresses to choking

I have been ill for around 10 days. It started with a terrible cough and extreme shortness of breath. I went to doctor who tested me for H1N1 and them immediately gave me tamiflu and antibiotics. I finished the tamiflu and antibiotics a few days ago and have seen improvement in my breathing and my amount of coughing has lessened. My current problem is when I wake up from sleeping. When I lay down to sleep my airway opens up and I can breath in and out clearly. When I wake up in the morning my throat is dry which causes me to cough. The coughing becomes so severe that it feels that my airway closes and I gasp for air, sometimes until I think I may pass out. It is very scary as I am not sure that I will always be able to begin breathing again when I am in one of these coughing fits. Should I be calling the doctor or is this common with pneumonia?

I've been sick since last week. Its starting to get a little better now. Coughing was horrible. It is getting a bit better now, but my ribs and back are so sore from coughing that the slighest cough now I am in pain. I lose my breathe too, its awful. I was checked its not pneumonia - it seems like this is just something that is going around. I couldn't stop coughing the one day, and i was gasping for air while coughing and then I felt like I was going to vomit so I ran into the bathroom while i was coughing and i got there just in time because i did throw up. It is getting alot better tho, but i am weak and i am hoping that it will be gone by Monday, I am going stir crazy cooped up in the house.

i hope you feel better.
