How serious is Pneumonia

How serious is Pneumonia

I am 41 yr old , relatively healthy, chase around a 2 yr old all day and drive around the 13 yr old
I was very active
Now I was diagnosed with pneumonia from chest x-ray in ER when I woke up feeling sick and high fever.
I was put on cylrathomicin (not sure of spelling) for 10 days, its been 6 days now and although the fever  is gone, the coughing fatigue and nausea are still here.
I went to my primary doctor yesterday and he said, "you have pneumonia!!!" dont expect to feel good for a while and that he wanted to do a follow up chest xray in 3 weeks.
should i be scared????????????

I had pneumonia 7 years ago 6 weeks after having a baby. I was exhausted for weeks. The fact that your fever is gone is good. It takes a while to feel "back to normal" after  pneumonia.

There is a strain of pneumonia that kills people, it's a serious condition. However, most strains are easily treatable with antibiotics.  Be sure to take all your meds, go for that follow up XRay and keep getting XRays until it shows your lungs are clear. Do not smoke if you do or go to places that are smokey.  It's going to take you time to recover so relax and take it easy on yourself.  If you find your getting worse or not improving be sure to call your doc right away.

The pain in your spine might be something new, like a muscle strain/injury or could be referred pain from sore chest muscles if your coughing alot. If it bothers you or interferes with your ability to function go see your doc.

I acquired aspiration pneumonia a few years ago during an operation.  I woke up a few hours later than expected and my oxygen saturation dipped below 90.  They were very worried about me.  I didn't feel back to myself again for 6 months.  I was 42, active, non-smoker.
