Isn't anybody getting better from that nose/chest congestion bug? I really need to know. What made you better. Have had all kinds of tests, antibiotics, inhalers. Still coughing and congested. Is there a cure for this or not?

Haven't seen a post of anybody getting over this flu that attacks your
bronchial and sinuses.  Anybody out there gotten over this bug?
If you have please, please would you respond as to what you
took or did to get relief.  Thanking you in advance.

My mom got an interesting treatment for her sinusitis(her official diagnosis for the nose/chest congestion thing goin around). The doctor explained how he had seen so many people come through with the same symptoms and some were treated with antibiotics and it would take 4-6 weeks for them to fully recover.  Others were treated with a nasal steroid and would recover in 5-6 DAYS.  So he gave my mom a prescription for both - the nasal steroid(Flonase) to try for 5 days and if she wasn't feeling better, to get her antibiotic(Zithromax) prescription filled and start taking it.  She never needed the antibiotics.  But there was also a trick to making the Flonase work - to use the OTC nasal spray Afrin - a vasoconstrictor - to open up the sinusues about 5 minutes before using the Flonase.  He said that if you didn't use the Afrin, the steroid would just sit there in your mucus and ultimately be worthless.

My mom didn't like his treatment plan simply because she doesn't like nasal sprays but IT WORKED.

I can not thank you enough for your comments.  I was becoming horribly stressed
and worse.  I have been on Flonase but never on the other inhaler so I will take
steps to purchase the O.T.C. spray Afrin.  Is this over the counter or by prescription?
I am glad to hear your mom is better and I pray that this works for me as well.  Once
again I am so, so happy that you have taken the time to respond.  Thank you again.
